Comline Launches EVLine Brake Pads for EVs

Comline has launched EVLine, a brake pad range engineered for electric vehicles. The R90-approved line opens with 69 references and targets rising UK EV aftermarket replacement demand.

Comline has launched EVLine, a brake pad range engineered specifically for electric vehicles, with 69 references currently in stock and more in development. The family-owned British aftermarket brand says the R90-approved EVLine brake pads are built for low-noise operation and consistent stopping performance across the pad’s service life. The launch lands against a UK market that registered its two millionth battery electric vehicle (BEV) in April 2026, approximately 5% of the UK car parc.

Why Do EVs Need Dedicated Brake Pads?

Regenerative braking handles the majority of deceleration in electric vehicles, but the friction brakes do not become optional. They remain necessary for emergency stops, driving in extreme weather, and situations where regenerative capacity is limited — including when the battery sits at a high state of charge.

The consequence is a duty cycle the aftermarket has to service differently. Because friction brakes are used less frequently, Comline says pads and discs can be exposed to rust, debris, and corrosion during prolonged periods of inactivity, raising the likelihood that they will eventually need replacement anyway.

How EVLine Is Built

The EVLine pads carry R90 approval, the UNECE type-approval regime covering replacement brake lining assemblies, discs, and drums sold into the aftermarket. According to Comline, an additional scorching process applied after curing stabilizes the friction characteristics at higher temperatures, which the company links to reduced brake noise and consistent performance over the life of the pad.

The range also carries a visual identifier: Comline’s blue livery appears on the CEM115 friction material.

Which Vehicles Are Covered

Comline’s Business Line team has been expanding its catalog to include EV and hybrid references, working from vehicles-in-operation data. More than 3,700 part numbers are currently available across the wider Comline range, with new additions monthly.

Recent EVLine additions include part numbers for:

  • Fiat Ducato (2020–2023)
  • Ford Tourneo Custom (2024 and later)
  • Ford Transit Custom (2024 and later)
  • Maxus eDeliver (2020 and later)
  • Mazda MX-30 (2020 and later)

The applications skew toward light commercial vehicles, a segment where electrification and high-mileage service intervals intersect.

UK EV Adoption Drives the Aftermarket Case

Comline frames EVLine as a response to market growth rather than a product refresh. The UK reached its two millionth BEV registration in April 2026. A month later, BEVs took a record monthly share of new vehicle registrations at 27.3%, a figure that establishes the replacement-parts opportunity the independent aftermarket will be servicing over the next several years.
