BMC Names Bosch’s Mark Phipps New Chairman

The Brake Manufacturers Council (BMC) Executive Committee has elected Mark Phipps of Bosch Brake Components as its new chairman.

Phipps, director of engineering at Bosch Brake Components, was elected at the group’s midyear meeting.

BMC is a product council of the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA), the light-vehicle aftermarket division of the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA).

Rick Jamieson, president and CEO of ABS Friction, was elected BMC vice chairman, and Jack Carney, president and CEO of FDP Brakes, will serve as the immediate past chairman. Bill Murray, vice president, global sales for NUCAP Industries, will continue to serve as a member at large.

New additions to the BMC Executive Committee as members at large are:

  • John Bennett, managing director, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions
  • HT Chang, vice president of engineering, Brake Parts Inc
  • Frank Oliveto, vice president of sales and marketing – Americas, Util Group

Walt Britland, director of aftermarket engineering for Federal-Mogul Motorparts, completed his term on the BMC Executive Committee as immediate past chairman. He will continue to contribute as a member of several BMC committees.

MEMA president and CEO and AASA president and COO Bill Long recognized Jack Carney for his leadership on the Executive Committee for the past two years.

BMC held its midyear meeting May 31-June 1 in Naples, Florida, in conjunction with the annual Brake Weekend.
