Lordstown EV Trucks Recalled for EPB Issue

LORDSTOWN, Ohio – Lordstown EV Corp is recalling five of its model-year 2023-2023 Lordstown Endurance due to a potential electronic parking brake issue (EPB).

The issue could manifest itself in the electric pickup truck’s EPB not being able to effectively operate on an incline.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-144, “The electric park brake calipers “EPB” may have been built with washers that had not been properly heat treated by the supplier. As a result, these washers could wear excessively over time, eventually leading the EPB to lose effectiveness and clamping force at grade.”

The full-size electric pick-up truck recall population includes vehicles built using parts from batches that may include electric park brake calipers with affected thrust washers.

There have not been any reports of crashes, injuries or property damage as a result of the condition causing the recall.

The remedy is replacement of the Akebono-sourced electronic parking brake components by a Lordstown EV dealer.

Dealers and owners were scheduled to be notified of the recall earlier this month.
