  • Knorr-Bremse recognized for the sixth time in succession as “Top Employer for Engineers in Germany”
  • Certification honors excellence in people strategy and HR leadership
  • Employees’ professional and personal development takes center stage

For the sixth time in succession, Knorr-Bremse, the global market leader for braking systems and a leading supplier of other subsystems for rail and commercial vehicles, has been certified as “Top Employer for Engineers in Germany” in recognition of its outstanding HR leadership and people strategy.

In the words of Klaus Deller, Chairman of the Executive Board of Knorr-Bremse AG: “At over 100 sites around the world our employees drive forward the development and quality of our products, playing their part in the mobility of the future. At the same time, targeted programs foster the continuous professional and personal development of our employees, providing an attractive working environment in which they can deliver top performance.”

Certification is restricted to employers who demonstrate excellence in terms of HR leadership and strategy as they pursue the best possible continuous development for their employees – in both professional and personal terms. A total of ten overarching categories are examined, including Talent Strategy, Workforce Planning, Learning and Development, Leadership Development, Compensation & Benefits, and Culture.

Sabrina Grimmel-Bendix holds a master’s degree in industrial engineering and for several months now she has been taking part in Knorr-Bremse’s trainee program. “My expectations when I chose to work for Knorr-Bremse have all been met in full,” she says. “In the global working environment here, in a short time you get to know many open and helpful people. I myself work as part of a young and international team. We optimize the coordination of activities between the different production sites, helping to boost the efficiency of the supply chain. People are encouraged to come up with new ideas here and I feel very much at home.”

As David Plink, CEO of Top Employers Institute explains: “We believe that the 2019 certified organizations demonstrate exceptional employee conditions and encourage the development of these practices by putting their people first. These companies help enrich the world of work with their outstanding dedication to HR excellence and because of this, they are recognized as an employer of choice.”

The Top Employers Institute has certified over 1,500 organizations in 118 countries who demonstrate outstanding commitment to a people-oriented approach. In what is a globally harmonized certification process, these companies must meet demanding requirements and high standards.
