Kenworth Unveils New T680 ADAS Options

Kenworth rolls out three Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) packages for its T680 trucks, enhancing safety and driver comfort. Announced recently, these packages—ADAS, ADAS PRO, and ADAS PREMIER—feature upgraded Bendix® Fusion™ technology, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Pedestrian Autonomous Emergency Braking, and High Beam Assist. Available now, they aim to reduce driver fatigue and support safer driving. Alongside these, Tire Pressure Monitoring and Lane Keeping Assist add practical benefits, while the top-tier PREMIER package includes DigitalVision Mirrors.

Key Highlights:

  • Bendix® Fusion™ Upgrade: All packages include Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Auto Go™, Pedestrian Autonomous Emergency Braking, and High Beam Assist, supported by a new forward-looking camera.
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring: Real-time tire health alerts come standard across all packages.
  • Lane Keeping Assist: Available in PRO and PREMIER, it features Torque Assisted Steering to ease handling.
  • DigitalVision Mirrors: Exclusive to the PREMIER package, enhancing visibility and safety.

Kenworth’s latest move builds on its legacy of innovation. The base ADAS package offers essentials like Predictive Cruise Control and Blindspotter® Side Object Detection, while PRO adds Lane Keeping Assist. The PREMIER package tops it off with cutting-edge mirrors. “Driver assistance systems contribute in helping to reduce driver fatigue and enhancing the ease of operating commercial trucks,” said Kevin Haygood, Kenworth assistant general manager for sales and marketing. These options cater to fleets and drivers prioritizing safety and efficiency.

The systems complement, but don’t replace, skilled driving. Kenworth stresses that “no commercial vehicle safety technology…replaces a skilled, alert driver exercising safe driving techniques.” Drivers must stay trained and vigilant, per the Operator’s Manual. Founded in 1923, Kenworth, a PACCAR company, continues to lead in heavy-duty truck design, integrating advanced tech like these ADAS features.
