ICER Expands Brake Pad Coverage for Chinese Vehicle Brands in Europe

ICER Brakes has expanded its aftermarket brake pad range to nearly 400 references for Chinese vehicles in Europe, where brands including MG, BYD and Jaecoo now account for roughly 6% of new car registrations.

Spanish friction manufacturer ICER Brakes has expanded its aftermarket brake pad catalogue to nearly 400 references for Chinese-built passenger vehicles, responding to the segment’s rapid growth across European workshops. Chinese marques accounted for roughly 6% of new car registrations in Europe in 2025, with MG leading the way and the MG ZS ranking among the year’s best-selling Chinese models on the continent.

Highlights

  • ICER’s Chinese-vehicle brake pad range has grown to nearly 400 references
  • Chinese brands hit close to 800,000 European registrations in 2025
  • MG ZS named among the top-selling Chinese models in Europe
  • More than 30 Chinese brands now active in the European market

Why the Aftermarket Is Catching Up

Chinese vehicles are no longer a niche presence on European roads. After several years of steady gains, registrations climbed to roughly 800,000 units in 2025 out of a total European passenger car market of about 13.3 million, according to figures cited by ICER. That share — close to 6% — has translated into rising volumes through independent workshops, where parts availability for newer Chinese models has historically lagged.

ICER, headquartered in Pamplona, said its R&D and engineering teams have stepped up development to keep pace. The company’s stated objective is to give distributors differentiated coverage so they can supply workshops with consistent-quality replacement parts across the expanding fleet. ICER’s “First to Market” strategy has previously prioritized early references for high-volume models including the MG ZS.

Brands Driving the Volume

MG currently leads Chinese-brand registrations in Europe by a wide margin, but it is no longer alone. ICER cites BYD, Jaecoo, Omoda (part of the Chery Group) and Lynk & Co (part of Geely) as additional brands now gaining ground.

More than 30 Chinese carmakers are already selling vehicles in Europe. ICER expects further acceleration in 2026 from newer or expanding entrants including Lepas, Denza, Changan and Geely.

What ICER Is Offering Distributors

The expanded catalogue covers most of the best-selling Chinese models now circulating in Europe. ICER’s online catalogue gives distributors and workshops access to drawings, OE references and cross references, along with dimensions and vehicle applications across the full range. The company says the platform is designed to support fast and accurate identification — a recurring pain point for aftermarket coverage of newer Chinese models, where OE part numbering and vehicle application data are not always widely circulated through traditional channels.

ICER’s Chinese-vehicle expansion follows a broader aftermarket trend. Delphi added 75 first-to-market brake references covering Chinese brands as part of its 2025 portfolio expansion, signaling that major friction suppliers are racing to close the same coverage gap.
