Frasle Mobility‘s Research, Development, and Innovation Center, now known as Movetech, has rebranded to solidify its position as the largest advanced engineering center in friction materials in the Southern Hemisphere, offering comprehensive mobility solutions.
In 1974, founder Francisco Stédile’s vision led to the establishment of Fras-le‘s research and product development center. Over the decades, this strategic sector has evolved, transforming into Movetech. Initially focused on new product creation, Movetech has grown to become the largest advanced engineering center in friction materials in the Southern Hemisphere. Its scope now includes structural composites and polymeric components, aiming to provide comprehensive solutions for the mobility market.
Key Highlights:
- Movetech’s 50-year legacy includes iconic products used globally for over 30 years.
- Team of over 160 specialists working in Brazil and worldwide.
- Integrated structure with three laboratories for advanced product creation, testing, and simulations.
- Close collaboration with Frasle Mobility’s headquarters in Caxias do Sul and global operations support.
- Recent innovations include a new formulation for railway brake shoes and sustainable solutions like asbestos-free friction materials and copper-free brake pads.
- Strategic partnerships with Centro Tecnológico Randon (CTR) and educational institutions like the Instituto Hercílio Randon (IHR).
“Our Advanced Engineering Center is where countless solutions are created. With cutting-edge technology, our team of engineers and technicians works in an integrated manner with all other areas of the company. We are also close to our clients, producing customized projects, which have been fundamental for the long-standing relationships we maintain with these partners,” emphasizes Alexandre Casaril, Director of Engineering and OEM Sales at Frasle Mobility.
A notable example of Movetech’s recent work is a new formulation for railway brake shoes that significantly reduces the product’s carbon footprint. Other pioneering initiatives, such as developing asbestos-free friction materials in the 1990s and introducing copper-free brake pads and structural composites in the 2020s, highlight the center’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.
“Fras-le, which celebrates 70 years as an iconic brand, has become a reference in friction materials due to its DNA of innovation. This solid origin continues to this day, especially through the work of the teams at our Advanced Engineering Center, which has been fundamental for five decades in the pioneering work we strive to build daily,” says Anderson Pontalti, COO of Frasle Mobility.
Movetech continues to operate in close synergy with the Centro Tecnológico Randon (CTR), the most comprehensive independent testing and approvals center in Latin America. It maintains ongoing relationships with educational, research, and innovation institutions, including the Instituto Hercílio Randon (IHR), a private science and technology institute supported by Randoncorp companies.
