Frasle Mobility Acquires Sorocaba Brake Plant

Frasle Mobility announced the imminent completion of negotiations to fully acquire a brake pad manufacturing plant in Sorocaba, Brazil. Previously operated as a joint venture with Federal Mogul/Driv (Tenneco), the facility will now be entirely owned by Frasle Mobility and renamed Frasle Mobility – Sorocaba Site. This acquisition consolidates the company’s efforts to enhance its manufacturing infrastructure, particularly for brake pads.

Key Highlights:

  • 100% ownership transition from previous joint venture.
  • Focus on Fras-le Ceramaxx ceramic brake pads.
  • Strategic geographic location benefiting OEM demands.
  • Continued production under Jurid brand.
  • Extension of the Movetech Advanced Engineering Center.

The Sorocaba facility will become a strategic production hub, primarily concentrating on the Fras-le Ceramaxx line, recognized for meeting the highest market standards in braking performance. These ceramic brake pads are designed for superior efficiency, maximum noise control, high sensitivity, and minimal wheel residue, addressing growing market demands for enhanced vehicle performance and comfort.

Its favorable location positions the plant to effectively supply significant volumes of original equipment (OE) parts to major automotive manufacturers. Additionally, the Sorocaba facility will continue to manufacture and distribute products under the established Jurid brand within Brazil.

Guilherme Adami, Executive Director of Braking at Frasle Mobility, noted, “With this new structure, we are better aligning the strengths of each facility to deliver products in a more optimized and sustainable way, reinforcing our close relationship with customers and partners.”

Furthermore, recent investments have expanded the Movetech Advanced Engineering Center at the Sorocaba location. This advanced research facility accelerates the development of cutting-edge friction material technologies, benefitting both OE and aftermarket segments.

Anderson Pontalti, International Executive Vice President at Randoncorp and COO of Frasle Mobility, added, “This investment demonstrates our ongoing commitment to developing safe and innovative motion control component solutions, boosting our production capacity to meet market demands.”

Completion of the acquisition remains subject to approval by Brazil’s Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) and the final signing of contracts.
