Ferrari Purosangue Recalled For Braking Defect

Ferrari is recalling 541 Purosangue vehicles from 2023-2025. A potential short circuit can cause reduced braking ability, increasing crash risk. Dealers will install a free plastic spacer.

Ferrari North America, Inc. is conducting a safety recall for certain 2023-2025 Purosangue models due to a defect that could lead to decreased braking capability. The issue stems from the potential contact between the fuse box’s power supply and the passenger-side footrest, which can cause a short circuit.

Key Highlights

  • Affected Vehicles: The recall impacts 541 FERRARI PUROSANGUE vehicles from model years 2023-2025.
  • Defect: A short circuit may occur if the fuse box’s power supply makes contact with the passenger-side footrest.
  • Safety Risk: The short circuit can trigger a brake warning light and reduce the vehicle’s braking ability, which could lead to a crash if the driver does not heed the warning.
  • Remedy: Ferrari dealers will install a plastic spacer between the fuse box and the footrest at no cost to the owner.
  • Owner Notification: Owners will be notified by mail with letters scheduled to be sent by September 21, 2025.

Defect and Safety Risk Details

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) report, Ferrari determined that the layout of the fuse box’s power supply in relation to the passenger-side footrest could result in a short circuit. This electrical issue can cause the activation of the brake warning light on the dashboard. Drivers will also see a pop-up message instructing them to slowly bring the vehicle to a dealer. The most significant safety concern is the potential for decreased braking capability, which increases the risk of a crash. The manufacturer has stated that 100% of the recalled vehicles are estimated to have the defect.

Chronology of the Defect

The issue came to Ferrari’s attention in July 2025 after a case occurred in China where a Purosangue vehicle experienced an illuminated braking warning light and reduced braking ability. An investigation determined that a short circuit from the contact between the fuse box power supply and the passenger-side footrest was the cause. Following this discovery, Ferrari decided on July 21, 2025, to launch a recall campaign (Manufacturer Recall No. RC 92, NHTSA Recall No. 25V479) to address the potential safety defect. The company reported it has received no warranty claims, nor has it been made aware of any accidents, injuries, or deaths related to this issue.

Remedy and Reimbursement

To resolve the issue, Ferrari will have its authorized dealers install a plastic spacer between the fuse box’s power supply and the passenger-side footrest. This will prevent the components from making contact. This repair will be performed free of charge. The recall condition was corrected in production vehicles as of February 2025 for engineering purposes.

Ferrari North America, Inc. has a general reimbursement plan for owners who may have paid for repairs related to this issue before the recall announcement. Owners can contact Ferrari customer service at 1-201-816-2651 for more information.
