International Motors, LLC has issued a critical safety recall for certain 2019-2025 CV vehicles due to a potential fire hazard caused by a defective brake pressure switch. The recall, identified as NHTSA Campaign Number 25V414000, affects approximately 6,814 vehicles and addresses a risk where brake fluid leakage could cause an electrical short, potentially leading to a fire. Owners are urged to take immediate precautions until repairs are completed.
Key Highlights
- Recall affects 6,814 CV vehicles from model years 2019-2025.
- Brake pressure switch may leak, causing a short circuit and fire risk.
- Owners advised to park outdoors away from structures.
- Free repairs include replacing the brake pressure switch/fuse harness.
- Notification letters will be mailed by August 11, 2025.
Recall Details
The issue stems from a brake pressure sensor assembly that may leak fluid into the brake pressure switch, creating an electrical short. This defect increases the risk of a fire, whether the vehicle is in operation or parked. The problem was identified following an investigation by International’s R&D and Product Safety Office, which concluded on June 5, 2025, that residual brake fluid in the harness—due to improper service procedures in a prior recall (23V282)—could be the cause. Although no thermal events have been reported in repaired vehicles, the risk persists in units with unreplaced harnesses.
Remedy and Actions
To address the issue, dealers will install a new brake pressure switch/fuse harness equipped with an anti-capillary wire to prevent fluid wicking. For vehicles not yet repaired under the previous recall (23V282), the service procedure has been updated to mandate harness replacement. Owners are strongly advised to park their vehicles outside and away from structures until repairs are completed. International will provide these repairs free of charge, with owner notification letters scheduled for mailing on August 11, 2025. For further assistance, owners can contact International’s customer service at 1-800-448-7825, referencing recall number 25507.
Background and Investigation
International’s analysis, finalized on June 11, 2025, identified the suspect population after reviewing internal and GM-supplied data. The recall was declared on June 12, 2025, following confirmation that no thermal incidents had occurred in vehicles repaired under the prior recall, but the potential for fluid leakage remained. Vehicles previously repaired under Recall 23V282 will require the new harness replacement to ensure safety.
Next Steps for Owners
Owners should await their notification letter for repair scheduling details but are encouraged to contact dealers promptly to arrange inspections. International emphasizes the importance of addressing this issue swiftly to mitigate fire risks. For additional information, visit the NHTSA website or contact International directly. This recall underscores the company’s commitment to safety and proactive defect resolution.
