Braking and e-Drive Synergy Program

ZF’s Braking and e-Drive Synergy Program harnesses energy created during deceleration to recharge batteries, effectively extending the range of electric vehicles. By combining ZF’s advanced e-drives (AxTrax 2 dual and CeTrax 2 dual) with the mBSP XBS braking system, the program maximizes energy recuperation, providing one-pedal-drive functionality and enhancing driving comfort in low-speed situations.

This system also improves launch capabilities by optimizing traction control, reducing tire wear, and enhancing vehicle stability on slippery surfaces.

Software Brake Resistor

ZF’s innovative software solution replaces traditional brake resistors in battery electric vehicles. This function intelligently manages battery energy during charging, using location data to anticipate and prepare for energy needs during steep descents. This approach ensures 100% charge during descent while allowing full battery charge in other situations.

The software solution eliminates the need for bulky, heavy, and expensive brake resistors, saving approximately 150kg of weight and increasing available chassis space. This server-cloud-based function improves efficiency, sustainability, and reduces costs, showcasing ZF’s commitment to innovative, intelligent vehicle technologies.
