Stellantis is recalling approximately 20,755 U.S.-market plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUVs due to a potential issue with the brake pedal, which could inadvertently disengage while braking. The recall affects 2024-2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale and 2024 Dodge Hornet models. Globally, Syellantis has recorded 15 instances, including one accident, but no injuries have been reported.
The remedy for this issue involves reinforcing the brake pedal, and it will be provided free of charge to owners. Customers are encouraged to follow recall notice instructions or contact customer care for additional assistance. Notification letters will be sent to affected owners starting October 24, 2024.

In addition to the vehicles in the U.S., this recall affects approximately 2,280 units in Canada, 134 units in Mexico, and 30,517 units in markets outside North America. If the brake pedal collapses while driving, drivers are advised to use the Electronic Park Brake to safely stop the vehicle. The Automatic Emergency Braking system will also intervene if a collision is imminent, as long as it is active.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall campaign number is 24V752000. Dealers will reinforce the brake pedal arm free of charge, and owners are encouraged to contact Stellantis customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or visit mopar.com/recalls for more information.
