Nissan Recalls Vehicles for Brake Defect

Nissan North America, Inc. has issued a recall for certain 2025 models of the Murano, Pathfinder, and INFINITI QX60 vehicles due to a serious issue with the front brake calipers. Identified by NHTSA Campaign Number 25V173000, this recall affects 1,430 vehicles where one or both front brake caliper assemblies may lack sufficient strength and could break. If this happens, it could result in a loss of front brake function, significantly increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, these vehicles do not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 135, which governs light vehicle brake systems. To address the problem, dealers will inspect and replace the faulty brake caliper assemblies at no cost to owners, with notification letters set to be mailed starting May 9, 2025.

The issue stems from a production error by supplier Hitachi Astemo Mexico, S.A. de C.V., affecting vehicles manufactured between January 27, 2025, and January 30, 2025. Nissan has since corrected the problem in production, but owners of affected vehicles should be alert for signs of trouble, such as uneven braking or a “Low Brake Fluid” warning light. The recall carries Nissan’s internal numbers PD137 and PD138. Owners are encouraged to contact their dealers promptly to schedule inspections, as all repairs will be free.
