HARTLEPOOL, U.K. — TMD Friction, through its Mintex braking brand, has teamed up with Rallysport Engineering Academy in Essex to support its young students with their motor vehicle studies.

Rallysport Engineering specializes in supporting a wide range of young learners aged between 14 and 16 who find the normal learning environment a challenge, or to those who find a hands-on approach to learning more beneficial.

Working in conjunction with Skills and Education Group Awards and the IMI, Institute of the Motor Industry, the curriculum at the academy is based on a philosophy of “learning by doing”, of which 80 percent of the learning time is practical based and carried out by experienced staff working in its fully equipped workshops.

In addition to a range of merchandise and Mintex products to support the young leaners with project vehicles, TMD Friction will be providing extensive technical training to the mechanics as part of its plan in 2022 to reach into the heart of the education system and promote the benefits of a career in the automotive industry.

Scott Irwin MIMI, Head of Technical Training at TMD Friction, said: “A key objective for TMD Friction in 2022 is to reach out to colleges, schools and academies like Rallysport Engineering and support the work they do in bringing through automotive people of tomorrow.

“The blended learning approach from the academy works extremely well and we’re delighted with the interest they have with the Mintex brand and its technical qualities.”

Rallysport Engineering Academy special projects manager, Adrian Maddock said: “Both staff and students receive an enormous boost when leading names like Mintex come to visit and show an interest in our learning programs. It underlines the work that we do and keeps young learners motivated and excited about future opportunities in the motor trade.”
