Continental’s SportContact 7 tire has emerged victorious in a recent summer tire test conducted by leading European automobile clubs: ADAC (Germany), ÖAMTC (Austria), and TCS (Switzerland). The tire earned top ratings—”good” and “highly recommended”—for its exceptional performance on wet and dry roads, boasting the shortest braking distances and impressive sustainability credentials. Tested on a VW Golf in size 225/40 R 18, the SportContact 7 outperformed 17 other models, solidifying its reputation as a leader in safety and eco-friendliness for high-performance vehicles.
Key Highlights:
- Top Ratings: Achieved “good” (1.8) from ADAC and ÖAMTC, and “highly recommended” (74%) from TCS.
- Best Braking: Recorded the shortest wet braking distance at 28.4 meters from 80 km/h.
- Sustainability Leader: Earned the highest marks for low wear and efficiency among tested tires.

The SportContact 7 has solidified its dominance in the ultra-high-performance (UHP) tire category since its 2021 debut, racking up 14 independent test wins, including this latest triumph. Andreas Schlenke, a tire expert at Continental, notes, “With the prestigious victory in the ADAC tire test, the SportContact 7 seamlessly continues the test successes of previous years.” Its standout performance includes precise handling and strong grip, earning praise like “very good steering wheel feedback” and “absolutely safe and precisely controllable” from ADAC testers. On dry roads, it stopped a VW Golf in just 35.2 meters from 100 km/h, further proving its reliability.
Beyond safety, the tire excels in sustainability—a critical factor in modern tire evaluations. ADAC highlighted its “low wear” and “good efficiency,” awarding it the best score in the environmental balance category, which constitutes 30% of the total test score. This blend of safety and eco-consciousness makes the SportContact 7 a benchmark for summer tires. Designed for sporty vehicles with electric or conventional engines, it’s approved for models like the Porsche Panamera and BMW 5 Series, available in sizes from 18 to 24 inches. Continental’s focus during development on balancing driving pleasure with safety has clearly paid off, making the SportContact 7 a top choice for performance-minded drivers.
