… And the WTCR Championship with BRC Racing Team Hyundai
DETROIT, (November 26, 2018) – The past 10-days marked two very important sporting triumphs in the motorsport sector for Brembo, the Bergamo-based company has contributed its success with the six-time world champion Sébastien Ogier, who won the 2018 WRC World Rally Championship title with M-Sport Ford team. In addition, Brembo brakes also stopped the 2018 World Touring Car Cup Championship (WTCR) BRC Racing Team Hyundai with Gabriele Tarquini.
Brembo has equipped, for the 21st consecutive year, the M-Sport Ford team that, thanks to the formidable season of Sébastien Ogier, has managed to bring home the 2018 WRC Championship drivers’ title. Brembo has specifically supplied cast iron brake discs, aluminum calipers, master cylinders and pedals on the Ford Fiesta of Sébastien Ogier and for the second consecutive year together with the M-Sport team managed to win the drivers’ title in the WRC Championship.
At its first return after 15 years of absence, Brembo has triumphed in the reorganized WTCR. Through constant development and team work between Brembo engineers and BRC Racing Team allowed Gabriele Tarquini to triumph with the Brembo equipped Hyundai i30 N TCR with cast iron brake disks, aluminum calipers and master cylinders.
The WTCR season marked a double victory for the company of Stezzano that has repeated the drivers’ title and also won the constructors’ title with the MRacing-YMR Team, thanks to the comeback of Yvan Muller with his Hyundai i30 N TCR.
To crown this double success, the WRC2 championship by Jan Kopecký driving the Skoda Fabia R5 of Skoda Motorsport team was equipped with Brembo cast iron brake discs and aluminum calipers in 2018.
Winning the most significant International Rally Championships and the Tourism Championship for the Bergamo-based company proves that innovation and development results in victories.
