Vauxhall’s New Alcon-Equipped EV

The new Vauxhall Mokka GSE is designed to offer an exhilarating, rally-inspired driving experience for everyday use without compromising comfort or practicality, all while remaining accessible as a performance model.

Vauxhall has announced the pricing and specifications for the new Mokka GSE, the fastest electric vehicle in the company’s lineup. This new model combines rally-inspired design and engineering with motorsport-level performance from its all-electric powertrain. The Mokka GSE is designed to offer a blend of power, driving dynamics, and everyday practicality.

Key Highlights

  • Peak Performance: A fully electric powertrain delivers 280 hp and 345 Nm of immediate torque, allowing for 0-62 mph acceleration in just 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 124 mph.
  • Optimal Kerb Weight: With a kerb weight of under 1.6 tonnes, the Mokka GSE is considered exemplary for a battery-electric vehicle in its segment.
  • Advanced Powertrain: The vehicle is equipped with a 54 kWh battery (51 kWh usable) and features an 11 kW onboard charger with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability.
  • Rally-Inspired Engineering: The Mokka GSE includes a specially developed steering system, a tuned chassis, and a Torsen multi-plate limited-slip differential.
  • High-Performance Brakes: The front brakes are supplied by experts at Alcon, featuring 380mm discs and four-piston calipers in a distinctive GSE yellow.
  • Pricing and Value: The on-the-road (OTR) list price is £36,995, which qualifies for a £1,500 saving under the Electric Car Grant (ECG), reducing the price to £35,495 OTR. The Mokka Electric range starts from £31,005 OTR (after the ECG).

Rally-Inspired Performance

The Mokka GSE is built with components directly inspired by the Mokka GSE Rally car, including the high-voltage motor, inverter, battery, and wiring harness. It features a front-wheel-drive system with a Torsen multi-plate limited-slip differential. The chassis includes specific GSE front axle knuckles, front wishbone bushings, and new double hydraulic bump stop shock absorbers. The rear axle has a 189 percent increase in roll stiffness compared to the standard Mokka Electric, thanks to a new anti-roll bar.

Drivers can choose from three distinct drive modes: ‘Sport’ mode for full power and performance, ‘Normal’ for balanced everyday driving, and ‘Eco’ for maximum efficiency. The Mokka GSE has a WLTP range of up to 209 miles. Charging from 0-80% takes just 27 minutes using a 100 kW DC rapid charger, while a full charge from an 11 kW AC charger takes approximately 5 hours and 45 minutes.

Alcon Braking System

To manage its considerable performance, the Mokka GSE’s braking system has been optimized for spirited driving. The front brakes, supplied by performance braking experts at Alcon, feature large 380mm diameter discs paired with powerful four-piston calipers. These calipers are finished in an attractive GSE yellow, providing both exceptional stopping power and a bold visual statement.

Comfort and Technology

Inside the cabin, the Mokka GSE is equipped for comfort and convenience, with racing-style bucket seating and the latest driving assistance and infotainment technologies included as standard.
