TMD Friction’s Mintex Racing brake pads emerged triumphant once again, playing a crucial role in RS Off-Road’s victory at the grueling Scottish Borders Hill Rally 2023.
Reece and Sean Mathieson, the talented duo representing RS Off-Road, tackled 14 demanding stages and 95 unforgiving miles across Forrest Estate on November 18th and 19th. The rally’s notorious rough terrain, known for its puncture-inducing hazards, pushed both driver and machine to their limits.
Darkness descended during the final four stages of day one, amplifying the need for absolute focus and unwavering trust in their equipment. Mintex Racing brake pads proved their mettle, delivering consistent, fade-free stopping power throughout the night, ultimately leading RS Off-Road to a 21st place finish at the close of day one.
Sunday brought shorter yet fiercer challenges, with two back-to-back loops of a six-mile and a 12-mile stage. Reece Mathieson commented, “The stages were brutal, demanding far more from the car and brakes. Mintex’s M1144 pads shined under the intense heat generated by consecutive runs, giving us the confidence to push forward.”
With a comfortable class lead in hand, the team adopted a slightly conservative approach, prioritizing car preservation while maintaining respectable stage times. This calculated strategy secured them an impressive 18th overall placement and, more importantly, their second consecutive A1 title.
