HARTLEPOOL, U.K. — TMD Friction’s renowned Mintex braking brand provided the stopping power to the latest round of the high-octane Quaife MINI Challenge, which took place at legendary Scottish circuit Knockhill.

The 2.1-mile circuit, located ten miles north of Dunfermline, played host to rounds nine, ten and 11 of the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) support series on July 30th and 31st, with Mintex providing the specification braking pads to the full field of entries.

As well as providing front brake pads to the full MINI Challenge field of entries, Mintex sponsors racing driver Lewis Brown, who is seeking a new push for championship honors following a car rebuild over the summer break.

Lewis Brown, racing driver and Mintex brand ambassador, said: “Knockhill is a demanding circuit with drops, climbs and steep curbs. It’s a real drivers’ track and it’s one I look forward to racing at every year.”

“After a mechanical issue in race one it was great to be back out for race two and three carving my way through the field.”

The first of the three 20-minute races was won by Ronan Pearson for EXCELR8 Motorsport, with Joe Tanner and Jason Lockwood completing the podium. The same top three also featured on the podium in race two, with Lockwood beating Tanner to second place behind Pearson.

Race three was shortened due to an accident, but the 15-lap race provided drama throughout the field, with Graves Motorsport’s Alex Denning leading the way to the checkered flag, with Ronan Pearson topping off an excellent weekend with a second-place finish, and Sam Weller finishing third. Across the three races, Sam Weller recorded the fastest lap of 54.476 seconds, averaging 83.7 miles per hour.

Dominic Wheatley, racing driver and MINI Challenge Trophy 2021 champion, said: “Knockhill is a fantastic venue where I started my racing career. It’s the home of Scottish motor racing and a fast, undulating track which regularly sees our cars on two wheels or less!

“The fast nature of the circuit means we need confidence that our brakes will get us stopped for the final hairpin before the main straight – and Mintex brake pads gives us just that.”
