Atlanta – Mercedes-Benz has recalled 451 G-Class four-wheel-drives produced from 2011 to 2018.

The recall claims that the affected previous-generation G-Class models may suffer cracked brake lines in the ABS hydraulic unit when strong vibrations are present, such as driving over corrugations. This could cause brake fluid to leak “affecting the vehicle’s stopping distance.”

“Strong vibrations, such as driving on corrugated roadway, could cause the brake lines in the ABS hydraulic unit to crack, resulting in brake fluid leaking and affecting the vehicle’s stopping distance,” states the recall.

“The braking power of the affected circuit may be impaired, which may lead to a longer stopping distance, increasing the risk of an accident or injury to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

Mercedes-Benz is fixing the issue free of charge at dealerships around Australia, and concerned owners can locate a local dealership here.
