Knorr-Bremse has finalized the acquisition of Alstom Signaling North America, marking a significant step in the company’s BOOST 2026 strategy. This acquisition strengthens Knorr-Bremse’s position in the North American rail signaling market, aligning with its goals of long-term profitability and sustainable growth. The acquisition includes a workforce of approximately 800 employees and six operational locations, positioning Knorr-Bremse as a key player in Control, Command, and Signaling (CCS) technologies.

Dr. Nicolas Lange, Member of the Executive Board, emphasized the acquisition’s importance, stating, “Entering the signaling market in North America is a logical step on our way to becoming a systems and platform partner supplying safety-critical, mission-critical solutions to the rail industry.”
The acquisition encompasses Alstom’s conventional signaling portfolio, sales, service, and manufacturing operations across the USA and Canada. Knorr-Bremse’s newly formed Signaling business unit will focus on five key areas: wayside train and crossing control, relays, track products, onboard train control, and train supervision.
This strategic move not only boosts Knorr-Bremse’s presence in the North American rail industry but also opens up future opportunities for international growth in Europe and Asia. Additionally, digitalization of rail signaling systems presents significant potential for further development, enhancing safety and efficiency in global rail transportation.
