Brembo SGL Expands with New Production Halls

MEITINGEN, Germany — In a significant development for Brembo SGL Carbon Ceramic Brakes (BSCCB), a foundation stone ceremony was held for two new production halls at the SGL Carbon site in Meitingen. This event marks a notable expansion in BSCCB’s production capabilities and celebrates the joint venture’s successful growth in recent years.

Joined by representatives from both the political and industrial sectors, along with BSCCB personnel and its stakeholders, the ceremony underscored the project’s importance to both the company and the Meitingen region.

Spanning a collective area of approximately 8,500 m², the completion of these two state-of-the-art production halls is targeted for October 2024. Soon after their completion, the installation of advanced production machinery will commence, with production set to begin in January 2025. This growth signifies the addition of roughly 80 new jobs across various production domains at the Meitingen location.

During the event, Martin Sailer, the District Administrator of the Augsburg district, emphasized the broader implications of this expansion for the entire Augsburg area, not just Meitingen. He also presented a special contribution, handing over the official building permit to Alexander Miehling, the Site Manager of SGL Carbon in Meitingen.

Florian Hofner, Managing Director of Brembo SGL Carbon Ceramic Brakes GmbH, highlighted the vision behind this expansion. “The creation of these new production halls signifies our commitment to cater to the escalating demand and bolster BSCCB’s growth trajectory,” said Hofner. “Our dedication to quality has won the trust of our clients, ensuring that we not only retain our market position but also continue to be a stable employer in this region.”

Moreover, the company has announced that production capacities at both the Meitingen and Stezzano (Italy) locations will surge by over 70%. This substantial enhancement aims to meet the growing global demand for BSCCB’s carbon ceramic brake discs, particularly prominent in the luxury and premium car segments. Renowned for their unmatched quality and performance, these brake discs satisfy the stringent needs of auto manufacturers where superior braking is essential.
