ELYRIA, Ohio– Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC (Bendix), a member of the Knorr-Bremse Group, announced the addition of Geotab to the list of telematics platforms that can support SafetyDirect® by Bendix CVS.

SafetyDirect, Bendix’s user-friendly web portal, is the only video-based driver safety solution combined with an active safety system and available for installation on the production line at all of the major OEs.

With this integration, SafetyDirect will be available to Geotab-equipped commercial vehicle users, including those deploying earlier versions of Geotab technology. Rollout has begun, with availability to all fleets expected in mid-2020.

Bendix is the North American leader in the development and manufacture of active safety, air management, and braking system technologies for commercial vehicles. The company made the announcement during Geotab Connect 2020, the user conference hosted by Geotab, a global leader in IoT and connected transportation.

“A Geotab-equipped fleet will be able to transfer SafetyDirect data over that channel,” said TJ Thomas, Bendix director of marketing and customer solutions, Controls. “Our fleet customers spec’ing the Geotab platform have expressed great interest in this capability, and we’re excited to provide this solution. It speaks directly to our shared mission of helping fleets increase safety, productivity, and efficiency.”

SafetyDirect by Bendix CVS provides fleet operators with comprehensive feedback on their fleet and drivers, along with videos of severe events. SafetyDirect gives fleets key insights into common driving behaviors and trends across their operation. It wirelessly transmits the driver performance information and event-based data – video, vehicle, and sensor information from a vehicle’s J1939 network – to a secure web portal, providing fleets the necessary tools to help enhance their safety program.

“With all of Geotab’s product offerings, we strive to maintain the highest possible standard of safety, and our technology integrations with industry partners are no exception,” said Scott Sutarik, vice president commercial vehicle solutions at Geotab. “We are proud to welcome Bendix to the Geotab ecosystem.”

Processing over 30 billion data points a day from more than 2 million connected vehicles across the globe, Geotab provides actionable insights to businesses of all sizes to help them better manage their fleets and make data-driven decisions.

“Safety and performance information integration helps drive the future,” said Hans Molin, Bendix product line director – driver assist/auto-driving. “Geotab is one of the most trusted names in the industry, and its broad coverage across the commercial vehicle marketplace aligns with the rapidly growing interest for the integrated safety insight offered by SafetyDirect®. We are proud to partner with such an innovative pioneer to give fleets the power to drive more insight, efficiency, safety and growth.”

Thomas added, “This connectivity solution is the first step in a deeper integration we are developing with Geotab to deliver even greater value to our customers. Together with industry partners like Geotab, we continue to help shape tomorrow’s transportation.”

Because no advanced driver assistance technology can replace the need for safe and alert drivers practicing safe driving habits, Bendix stresses the importance of comprehensive, proactive driver training, and providing fleets with actionable information and tools to support their safety efforts.
