Zenvo Automotive has announced a new technical partnership with Alcon Components, a renowned specialist in high-performance braking systems. This collaboration will provide the forthcoming Zenvo Aurora hypercar with a bespoke braking system designed to manage its immense power and deliver an immersive driving experience. The system will be integrated into both the track-focused Agil and the grand tourer Tur models.
Key Highlights
- Zenvo has selected braking specialist Alcon Components as a technical partner for the new Aurora hypercar program.
- The partnership focuses on delivering a bespoke system that provides ultimate stopping power and tactile feedback for the 1,850-horsepower vehicle.
- The Aurora will be equipped with lightweight aluminum monoblock calipers and advanced carbon fiber-reinforced silicon carbide brake discs for superior performance.
- This collaboration emphasizes significant weight savings, relentless fade-free performance, and enhanced driver engagement under all conditions.

A Partnership for Uncompromised Performance
Controlling a vehicle with up to 1,850 horsepower is as critical as producing the power itself. According to Zenvo’s Chief Technical Officer, Jon Gunner, the braking system is a crucial element for a no-compromise project like the Aurora. The collaboration with Alcon was a natural fit, as Alcon is recognized globally for creating systems that perform at the most extreme levels. The goal is to harness the Aurora’s power, provide precise feedback from its hybridized powertrain, and ensure the car is just as capable on the track as it is on the road. The resulting system promises relentless, fade-free performance every time it’s needed.
Advanced Braking Technology
The newly developed system for the Aurora is a testament to modern engineering. It features custom billet monoblock calipers, with a six-piston setup at the front and a four-piston configuration at the rear. These calipers are paired with carbon fiber-reinforced silicon carbide (C/SiC) brake discs, a material choice that offers exceptional thermal capacity and durability. This combination ensures braking performance and pedal feel remain optimized and consistent, even under the extreme stress of hypercar speeds. Furthermore, the materials used have been carefully selected to achieve significant weight savings, contributing to the vehicle’s overall agility and performance.
A Shared Engineering Philosophy
With over 40 years of experience in high-stakes environments like Formula 1 and military applications, Alcon brings a wealth of knowledge to the project. Steve Hodgkins, Chief Engineer at Alcon, stated that the company is thrilled to be chosen for the Aurora project, noting that Zenvo’s commitment to excellence mirrors Alcon’s own philosophy. This shared vision has enabled the development of a braking solution that leverages a deep motorsport heritage to meet the hypercar’s demands. The collaboration has produced a system that delivers on Zenvo’s goal of creating the ultimate connection between the driver and the car.
The Zenvo Aurora, first revealed in August 2023, is currently undergoing extensive development ahead of its first customer deliveries in late 2026.
