TMD Friction is expanding its global reach and making sure its customers know.
The company is attending IAA under the slogan “This is our world.” At IAA, its Nisshinbo brand is front and center. This brand targets Asian vehicles driven outside of Europe, such as in Russia, the Middle East, Africa, and Central America.
TMD Friction also has announced that is will start producing brake pads for the global Independent Aftermarket (IAM) in India. “Our decision to manufacture a part of our products in India emphasizes the global orientation of TMD Friction,” according to Michael Dunkel, Director of Strategic Projects.

At this year’s Automechanika in Frankfurt, Germany, TMD Friction is highlighting its global presence under the motto “This is our World”. Accordingly, the friction technology specialist is announcing the start of production of brake pads for the global Independent Aftermarket (IAM) in India, providing the necessary production capacity to meet the strategic growth objectives of the company. The production facility near New Delhi has already been audited and approved by several leading car manufacturers and offers sufficient capacity to meet current and future global demand. Products from the Indian facility are made exclusively with original TMD Friction compounds and TMD approved components and following all quality and approval processes within the global TMD standards. This ensures that all specifications and performance criteria are achieved.

A long term optimal location policy is essential for our growth strategy, especially in markets where we are increasing our customer and sales activities”, says Michael Dunkel, Director Strategic Projects at TMD Friction and responsible for the integration of the new facility. “Here we have access to a highly skilled workforce and expert production knowhow, which meet our requirements for quality and safety standards.”
India has established itself as one of the world´s fastest growing economies and has developed into a preferred manufacturing location for the automotive component industry. The GDP has been growing steadily in the past years and the economic experts are expecting growth of 7% of Indian economy in 2018. The growth is linked to the growing domestic demand, exports and the high level of foreign investments in growth sectors. Many vehicle and component manufacturers are already producing in India since many years. TMD Friction is following this trend by supporting OEM and IAM customers globally with an aligned production footprint.
