BOULOGNE-BILLANCOURT, France – The New Renault Captur passed the Euro NCAP safety exam with 5 stars, the maximum rating, in the latest generation and thus most stringent tests. New Captur has proven all its qualities in terms of safety for its occupants (adults and children), with regard to pedestrians, as well as its complete and efficient range of driving aids.
Based on the new modular platform of the CMF-B Alliance, the New Captur joins the New Clio (also 5 stars) on the list of the safest vehicles. It benefits from an optimized body structure, revised seat structures and seat belt fasteners designed to provide optimal support for all occupants with pyrotechnic pre-tensions and force limiters.
Renault is an ambassador for Fix4sure technology for excellence in occupant restraint to avoid submarining. In addition, the excellent design of the New Captur makes it easy to install a child seat on the lateral rear seats, on isofix and with the I-size system, and also to protect the head in the rear seats during side impact.
New Captur also benefits from a rich range of equipment: six airbags, ABS with emergency braking assistance, camera and radars (allowing the lane maintenance assistant, overspeed warning with recognition of road signs, safety distance warning, emergency braking), speed regulator/limiter, warning of non-use of seat belts on the five seats, emergency call in case of accident. In addition, vision is optimized with a 360° camera, standard 100-percent LED front headlamps, automatic headlamp activation and an electro chromatic interior rearview mirror.
Captur’s new electronic architecture has also made it possible to provide active emergency braking with recognition of pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles and to offer the Traffic and Motorway Assistant, the first step towards autonomous driving.
These ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) available on the New Captur are divided into three families: Driving, Parking and Safety. They constitute the Renault EASY DRIVE label. Their settings are clearly and intelligibly accessible via the touch screen of the Renault EASY LINK multimedia system.
