Mercedes Recalls AMG GLB 35 for Brake Hose Issue

Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling a limited number of 2024 AMG GLB 35 4MATIC vehicles due to incorrectly routed brake hoses on the rear axle. This defect may cause brake fluid leaks, leading to a potential loss of braking performance and an increased risk of a crash. Only 16 vehicles are affected, with dealers expected to inspect and reroute the hoses as necessary at no cost to owners. Notifications will be sent by October 8, 2024.

Key Highlights:

  • Recall affects certain 2024 AMG GLB 35 4MATIC vehicles.

  • Potential loss of braking performance increases the risk of a crash.
  • Dealers will inspect and correct the issue free of charge.

The defect was identified after an investigation by Mercedes-Benz AG (MBAG), following a field report from outside the U.S. that described a soft brake pedal and a “Check Brake Fluid Level” warning message. Further analysis revealed that one of the rear axle brake hoses was not installed according to production specifications, causing chafing and fluid leakage.

Owners of the affected vehicles will receive notification letters starting October 8, 2024. Mercedes-Benz dealers will inspect the brake hoses and reroute them as necessary at no cost. The company emphasizes that this defect affects a small number of vehicles and that there have been no reports of accidents or injuries in the United States related to this issue.

For additional information, owners can contact MBUSA customer service or visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website.

This recall underscores the importance of proper component installation in vehicle safety and highlights Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to addressing potential risks proactively.
