PureForge has unveiled recent test results that show its brake technology eliminates particulate emissions caused by rotor wear. Through a process known as Atomic-Forging™, PureForge has developed rotors that not only resist wear but also gain thickness over time, offering significant environmental benefits. Independent testing by Link Engineering confirms that PureForge-treated rotors do not wear like traditional rotors, reducing emissions and increasing longevity. This advancement could revolutionize the automotive industry by drastically lowering brake dust and emissions from vehicles.
Key Highlights
- Atomic-Forging™ technology eliminates rotor wear, leading to no particulate emissions.
- PureForge rotors gain mass, unlike OEM rotors that lose weight over time.
- Independent testing by Link Engineering shows a 42.3-gram mass difference in favor of PureForge-treated rotors.
- PureForge brake pads wear 60% less compared to standard OEM pads.
- The technology results in fewer brake service intervals and reduced overall brake dust.
- PureForge’s innovation offers a significant environmental advantage by cutting down emissions from brake wear.
Detailed Findings
In a recent third-party test conducted by Link Engineering, PureForge’s Atomic-Forged rotors were tested against standard OEM rotors using a small crossover SUV. The results were compelling:
- OEM Rotor Wear: Over time, the OEM rotor lost 29.10 grams of material.
- PureForge Rotor Wear: In contrast, the PureForge rotor gained 13.20 grams, showcasing its ability to resist wear and increase in mass.
This results in a net difference of 42.30 grams between the OEM rotor’s loss and the PureForge rotor’s gain, emphasizing the superior durability of the PureForge technology.
Brake Pad Performance
The brake pad testing also highlighted the advantages of PureForge’s system:
- OEM Pad Wear: The standard OEM brake pad lost 131.7 grams over the test.
- PureForge Pad Wear: The PureForge-treated brake pad only lost 52.7 grams, demonstrating a 60% improvement in pad durability.
Bottom Line
The results of these tests demonstrate that PureForge-treated rotors not only resist wear but actually gain mass and thickness. When paired with specially formulated brake pads, the system significantly reduces wear, emissions, and the need for frequent brake maintenance. According to Paul Stoloff, VP of OEM Production Engineering at PureForge, “The PureForge state-of-the-art Atomic-Forging process… provides the benefits of reduced brake dust and longer overall brake life resulting in greatly reduced brake service intervals.”
