CHATHAM, Mass. — The big news from INFINITI for the revised three-row 2025 QX60 three-row sport-utility vehicle (SUV) is a modest gain in fuel efficiency with a slight sacrifice in on-road performance thanks to a new turbocharged four-cylinder engine replacing the previous standard V6.

The QX60 retains its luxurious appointments, features and technology in a spacious package at the heart of the premium mid-size SUV segment with a competitive price. Our review unit was the comprehensively equipped, top-of-the-range 2025 INFINITI QX60 Autograph model.

INFINITI’s new SUV powertrain

For the 2025 model year, the luxury brand from the Nissan organization dropped its 3.5-liter V6 naturally aspirated 295-horsepower direct-injected gasoline-fueled engine from several SUV models including the QX60. In its place is a new, variable-compression turbocharged (VC-Turbo) 2-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline-fueled engine.

The VC-Turbo, according to INFINITI, “seamlessly varies its compression ratio depending on the driving situation, accelerator input and other factors. With the ability to range from a compression ratio of 8:1 to 14:1, the engine offers drivers a rewarding blend of comfort, performance and efficiency.”

The new engine produces 268 horsepower and 286 pounds-feet of torque, the latter representing a 16 pounds-feet increase over the previous powerplant.

Retained is a nine-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and the Autograph-standard all-wheel-drive (AWD) system which can shift up to 50 percent of the power to the rear wheels based upon driving conditions and driver inputs (the driver can select amongst five operational modes: Personal, Sport, Standard, Eco and Snow).

The revised powertrain felt strong during my time in the driver’s seat. I never noticed a lack of power either when merging or passing on the interstate or maneuvering around plodding sight-seeing drivers in rural Cape Cod areas.

Real-world, useful performance remains excellent, while Car and Driver testing resulted in a 7.5-second run from 0-60; 1.3 seconds slower than the previous model (a useless difference on the road).

On the positive side of the engine switch is fuel economy improvements. The federal Environmental Protection Agency rated the 2025 QX60 AWD at 24 miles per gallon overall (22 urban, 27 highway) or a 2 mpg increase across the board. My results were even better, some 25.6 mpg in overall driving (compared to the 24 mpg I achieved with the 2024 SUV).

Towing capacity remains the same in 2025 at up to 6,000 pounds when equipped with the optional tow package.

Platform provides solid underpinning

The fully independent suspension helps ensure both a comfortable, compliant ride along with sure-footed handling in everyday driving. The QX60 suspension pieces feature MacPherson-type struts, twin-tube dual flow-path shock absorbers and 29mm stabilizer bar at the front, while a multi-link setup with 28.6mm stabilizer bar and the same type shocks operate in the rear.

The vehicle-speed determined variable-assist power steering produces a 38.7-foot curb-to-curb turning circle diameter.

The power assisted, anti-lock (ABS) equipped brake system features ventilated rotors all around with the fronts measuring 13.78×1.18 inches, the rears 12.99×0.63 inches. The electronic parking brake is actuated with a dashboard switch.

A charcoal-metallic finish adorns the, in INFINITI’s words, “’luxury’ machined” aluminum-alloy wheels wearing P255/50R20 all-season tires.

All these pieces combined for a vehicle which is very comfortable without being soft. The QX60 handles well; it might not be my first choice for carving a fast route down from the Atlantic Ocean cliffs into Wellfleet’s village center, but the large SUV never felt awkward or difficult to maneuver.

Long list of ADAS

Befitting the top-of-the-range luxury/premium status of the 2025 INFINITI QX60, the Autograph model has a comprehensive array of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) as standard. The roster includes forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection; predictive forward collision warning; rear automatic braking; rear cross-traffic alert; rear-view monitor and rear sonar system; blind-spot warning; Blind Spot Intervention™ system; lane departure warning with haptic steering wheel; Around View Monitor® with moving object detection; front sonar; driver attention alert; intelligent cruise control with full speed range, stop and hold; traffic-sign recognition, and the ProPILOT Assist with Navi-link, the company’s limited self-driving system.

Cabin filled with luxury and technology

Luxury/premium SUVs like the QX60, especially top-of-the-range versions like this Autograph model, typically fill the spacious interior with the latest amenities, conveniences and technological advancements.

Semi-aniline leather covers the first two rows of seats with the first rows’ having power adjustment, heat and ventilation; row two’s captains’ chairs with heat. The steering wheel is also power adjustable, leather wrapped and heated. Speaking of heating, the three-zone automatic climate-control system includes an air purifier and microfilter.

The INFINITI InTouch 12.3-inch Interactive Display touchscreen is the heart of the infotainment system which features wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto; SiriusXM satellite radio; Bluetooth streaming audio; WiFi hotspot, and navigation with real-time traffic. Sound is projected by a 17-speaker Bose® Performance series system.

The instrument cluster is another 12.3-inch (customizable) display which is supplemented by a 10.8-inch color head-up display (which worked well even when I was wearing sunglasses; a very unusual capability!).

There are cupholders — multiple for the first two rows — for every seating position, six USB ports to charge mobile devices, a removable console in the second row, and a digital rear-view mirror utilizing an external camera (this means occupants in the second and third rows will not obscure rear vision; I find this a very helpful feature in an SUV).

Competitive mid-size luxury SUV

The 2025 INFINITI QX60 range offers four trim levels, from the front-wheel-drive Pure (base price $50,200) through the top-of-the-range Autograph (base price $66,150) like I reviewed. All versions can be equipped with AWD.

The available-option list for the 2025 INFINITI QX60 Autograph is short since it comes with virtually every feature the company could imagine. The review unit’s additions were a lighting package ($820 including an INFINITI Radiant Exterior Welcome lighting and logo and INFINITI Radiant Dark Satin Illuminated Cargo Scuff plates); INFINITI Radiant grill emblem ($465), and Graphite Shadow/Black Obsidian premium paint ($695). Adding these options to the base price plus the $1,350 destination charges brought the as-reviewed total to $69,480, a competitive figure when compared to others in this class.

The 2025 INFINITI QX60 is a more efficient iteration of previous versions, thus improving on an already excellent, competitive value in the luxury/premium mid-size SUV segment. Three rows of luxury in a sub-200-inch package makes this INFINITI an even better value than many of its competitors; a worthy consideration.
