DETROIT, Mich. – Back in May, we were the first to report that upcoming Cadillac crossovers would offer painted brake calipers. Now, we’ve come to learn from sources at the dealer level that the 2021 Cadillac XT4 Sport will indeed offer red brake calipers.

Cadillac Crossovers To Offer Painted Brake Calipers

The new red brake calipers will come as standard equipment on the 2021 Cadillac XT4’s Sport trim level, replacing the unpainted brake calipers equipped on the previous 2020 model year. The new calipers will be tagged with RPO code J6F. It’s unclear at this time whether the base-model XT4 Luxury trim or the more-sumptuous XT4 Premium Luxury trim will offer the red calipers as well.

For now, photos of the Cadillac XT4’s new red calipers are unavailable, but given the red calipers seen on other Cadillac models, we do have a general ideal what they may look like.

For example, the Cadillac CT4 Sport and CT5 Sport both offer painted brake calipers, with the option for either a blue or red finish, priced at $595. The standard caliper color is black.

As seen on the sedans, the painted calipers add a new finish to both the front and rear brakes, while the front units also include the Cadillac branding script. Meanwhile, the Cadillac CT5-V and CT4-V also come with painted calipers, but include the V-Series logo, rather than Cadillac branding.

For those buyers looking to add an extra dash of performance flavoring to their crossover, red-painted calipers are a solid option to tick, complementing the extra styling upgrades included with the Sport trim level, such as the dark-tinted trim, the unique grille treatment, and the new coloring for the taillamp housings. However, the painted calipers do not affect the Cadillac XT4’s actual performance, and are merely an aesthetics item. As a reminder, the current-generation XT4, XT5, and XT6 will not receive high-performance V-Series treatment like the CT4-V and CT5-V sedans, as rumored previously.
