Xos Trucks Recalled to Repair Brake Lines

LOS ANGELES – Xos, Inc. has agreed to recall certain model-year 2021-2022 electric trucks to repair improperly routed brake lines which could result in a brake-fluid leak followed by other issues.

The 292 vehicles included within the recall, 2021 Xos RM01, 2021 Xos SA01 and 2021-2022 Xos SV05, might have brake lines incorrectly routed and installed with incorrect lengths during installation in manufacturing. This condition could lead to a brake-fluid leak.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Part 573 Safety Recall Report 22V-881 the safety risk under these circumstances “A brake fluid leak that remains undetected or unaddressed can lead to an increase in stopping distance, which may increase the risk of a crash.”

If a leak is present, the low brake fluid warning light will illuminate in the instrument panel. After the reservoir of the potentially affected brake circuit is completely depleted, the brake pedal travel may begin to increase or the pedal may begin to feel soft.

The remedy will consist of inspection by franchised Xos dealers and replacement of components at no cost to the vehicle owners.

Dealers and owners are scheduled to be notified by Xos by Dec. 14th.
