MT. VERNON, Mo. – A post on FireFighterNation.com reported that the Reyco Granning TransportMaster® suspension technology can positively impact stopping distances when mounted on Ford chassis cab units.

The post reported the following recently:

Reyco Granning has completed FMVSS 105 testing for the TransportMaster® suspension family as mounted on Ford chassis cabs. The outcome was a resounding success, certifying stopping distance performance and assuring customers of the tremendous advantages of TransportMaster® technology.

Testing was performed in both 4X2 mode and 4X4 mode to ensure compatibility between the suspension system and the Ford ESC (electronic stability control) system. Out of 8 test protocols in 4X2 mode, 5 showed improved stopping distance performance relative to the factory leaf spring suspension. In 4X4 mode, two tests were completed, and both showed considerable improvement in stopping distances relative to the stock configuration.

The TransportMaster® system combines Reyco Granning’s durable R-Series drive axle air suspension with the latest air supply module the AirMaster®.

Class 3, 4, 5 Ford, Ram and General Motors chassis cab and cutaway vans, as well as Ford E Series strip chassis, can take advantage of Reyco Granning’s TransportMaster® technology is compatible with Class 3-5 Ford, RAM, & GM chassis cabs & cutaway vans, and Ford E series strip chassis.

The system is a bolt-on upgrade to replace the factory leaf spring suspensions for a shuttle bus, ambulance, RV, and work truck applications .

The R-Series was designed to improve ride quality, manage body height, and permit kneeling. The AirMaster is factory certified leak free, eliminates air-line freezing, and dramatically improves compressor life relative to legacy air supply systems.

The system can facilitate height management and “kneeling,” as well as enhancing ride and handling prowess for small buses, motorhomes, work trucks or ambulances, to cite some applications.

Reyco grew out of the Reynolds Mfg. Co, which was founded in Springfield, Mo. in 1924 and was first known as a major supplier of brake drums for heavy duty vehicles. In 1948 the company began to develop a full line of air and steel-spring suspensions for trucks, buses, trailers and motorhomes.

Granning Air Suspensions was founded in 1949 in Detroit as a manufacturer of auxiliary lift axle suspensions. Granning later became an innovator of independent front air suspensions for the motorhome industry.

Reyco Granning Suspensions was formed by the merger and acquisition of two well-known names in the heavy-duty vehicle suspension industry—Reyco and Granning.
