Stoughton Trailers Recall Units for Wrong Brake Hoses

STOUGHTON, Wisc. – Stoughton Trailers, LLC is recalling certain model-year 2024 Stoughton Trailers CCGN-40T which might have incorrect-length brake hoses and potential of air loss to the braking system.

The 55 trailers within the recall population also might have inadequate or missing air-tank fasteners.

The trailers were produced between Feb. 14, 2023, and April 13, 2023. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-460, the company stopped production June 6th and shipment of complete units within its possession.

Production will resume when Stoughton Trailers receives the correct hose length from its supplier. Air-tank fasteners will be confirmed and corrected on these units if required. The company said no units would be shipped until repaired.

The NHTSA report cited the safety risk as “Potential of air loss to braking system which could cause an accident.”

The remedy for units in the field is replacement of brake hoses with correct-length ones; inspection and installation of proper air-tank fasteners.

Stoughton Trailer dealers and trailer owners are scheduled to be notified as to the recall by July 13th.
