Knorr-Bremse Revamps Trailer Braking: iTEBS X Unveiled

iTEBS X builds upon Knorr-Bremse’s long-standing expertise in trailer braking technology. It streamlines component integration, combining the control unit, sensors, pneumatics, and braking functions like ABS and load-dependence into a single compact unit. This maintains the system’s renowned reliability and quality while enhancing efficiency through a well-designed pneumatic coupling.

Modular design for tailored solutions:

Recognizing that not all trailers require the same level of functionality, Knorr-Bremse offers the iTEBS X in three variants:

  • iTEBS X ECO: Ideal for cost-conscious volume markets, offering essential braking functions.
  • iTEBS X PLUS: Expands on the ECO variant with additional electronic and pneumatic capabilities.
  • iTEBS X LAC: The most comprehensive option, featuring an integrated lift axle valve for simplified trailer layouts and reduced system costs.

Flexibility for vehicle manufacturers:

The iTEBS X modulator utilizes the popular HDSCS connector system, but with a modular plug-in design. This distributes functions across multiple ports, allowing manufacturers to precisely select desired features with minimal wiring adjustments.

Enhanced air suspension control:

Knorr-Bremse has also revamped the air suspension control system alongside iTEBS X. The new “POM” parking and maneuvering valve integrates the lift/lower controller, saving space and streamlining the user interface. It retains the familiar two-button design for the parking brake while adding a lever for lift/lower functionality with optional locking positions.

Seamless compatibility with iLvl air suspension:

The POM works with both conventional and Knorr-Bremse’s iLvl electropneumatic air suspension systems. The Chassis Suspension Module (CSM) further harmonizes piping between these two suspension types, simplifying vehicle design and manufacturing.

Future-proof features:

iTEBS X comes equipped for the future with a smart service concept for workshops, a cloud-based configuration platform for advanced diagnostics, and compliance with upcoming legal requirements for trailers.

Overall, the iTEBS X marks a significant leap forward in trailer braking technology, offering enhanced functionality, flexibility, and future-proof features for a diverse range of trailer applications.
