TAMWORTH, U.K. — Alcon has chosen the prestigious Eurosatory Show June 13-17 in Paris to consolidate its position in the defense sector by exhibiting its engineering expertise and defense-orientated braking solutions at a defense show for the first time.

At the event in Hall 5A, Stand C767, Alcon will have a range of braking solutions on display that cover the requirements of multiple defense vehicle types from 2-45(+) tons. The technical sales team will be on hand to discuss any project or scenario that requires a solution.

Alcon is rapidly becoming the braking partner of choice across the defense sector, due to its 35 years of experience in engineering high-quality and high-performance brakes and clutches for specialist vehicles; from F1, World Rally and prestige performance cars to 60T-plus military armored vehicles, combined with its proven pedigree in rapidly solving the unique braking problems created by the operational demands of the military environment.

Alcon braking solutions have been sought out by some of the world’s finest defense industry vehicle original-equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and notably, were selected by Patria to provide the bespoke braking solution for the new 6×6 heavy armored vehicle.

Alcon braking systems are used by more than 20 defense and security equipment OEMs, including Patria, Supacat, BAE, Ricardo and Jankel because Alcon provide bespoke braking systems that fully meet the demanding requirements of the challenging, high-performance, modern-day battlefield.

For those seeking high-performance brake upgrades for increased braking capacity and improved safety to deal with higher Gross Vehicle Weights in armored vehicles, the Alcon range is the perfect solution.

Its armored-vehicle brake kits feature custom-designed multi-piston iron calipers and larger discs on both front and rear axles. The kits offer the following key advantages: compatibility with base OEM actuation and stability control systems (so are easy to fit and minimize additional parts required); compliance and certification against various standards associated with increased vehicle weight; reduced brake fade; increased braking torque and less wear leading to reduced, through-life costs; acid zinc finish for maximum corrosion protection and inboard bleed screws to increase tamper-proofing protection.
