Wilwood Disc Brakes has recently announced the addition of larger rear brake kits for GM G-Body vehicles, specifically targeting those with 7-1/2” and 7-5/8” rear differentials. This expansion introduces 12.88” and 14.00” brake kits, incorporating the company’s motorsports-tested Superlite four piston calipers, and offering substantial upgrades over the standard disc/drum brake setups. Aimed at enhancing the braking performance of popular models like the Chevy Monte Carlo, Malibu, and El Camino, these kits are designed for drivers seeking superior stopping power and reliability.

Key Highlights:

  • New Sizes: 12.88” and 14.00” brake kits available.
  • Compatibility: Fits GM G-Body vehicles with 7-1/2” or 7-5/8” differentials.
  • Materials: Utilizes Wilwood’s Spec37 iron alloy for rotors and forged Superlite FNSL4R calipers for maximum durability.
  • Options: E-coated rotors with GTB slotted or SRP drilled and slotted faces, and calipers available in gloss red, black powder coat, or 26 custom colors.
  • Brake Pads: Comes with Wilwood’s BP-10 street performance pads, with additional options available.
  • MSRP: Starting at $2,261.76.

The brake kits feature a two-piece aluminum hat-to-rotor combination, housing an internal drum parking brake to retain OE functionality. Rotors crafted from Wilwood’s proprietary Spec37 iron alloy feature curved vanes for improved ventilation, with the 12.88” kit boasting 48 vanes and the 14.00” kit 72 vanes. Forged Superlite FNSL4R radial-mount calipers are Type III hard anodized for enhanced durability and equipped with stainless steel pistons. Customers can choose between gloss red or black powder coat finishes for the calipers, with an option for 26 additional colors at extra cost. The brake pad compound is Wilwood’s BP-10 street performance, with a variety of other friction materials also available to suit different driving needs.
