MELBOURNE – World-leading brake developer and manufacturer Disc Brakes Australia (DBA) has joined Tickford Racing as the team’s official brake partner ahead of the 2021 Supercars season.

Founded and based in Australia, DBA is the country’s most awarded brake rotor manufacturer, and distributes rotors and pads worldwide for the street and the racetrack.

It is a reunion of sorts between the two names, as DBA served Tickford – in its previous guise through the turn of the century – as engineering and prototyping partner and supplied rotors for the Tickford Ford Falcon TE50 from 1999.

DBA General Manager of Operations Phillip Joseph confirmed the new partnership, which will see DBA signage featuring on all three Tickford Ford Mustang Supercars from 2021.

“We’re excited about increasing our involvement in motorsport, working closely with the drivers and the whole team at Tickford Racing,” Joseph said. “The team’s commitment to success on and off the track, from the drivers to crew to engineers and more, is very appealing to us and a great fit for our brand.

“Looking at the way the team finished 2020 – particularly Cam Waters’ amazing run at Bathurst – has our whole team very enthusiastic about this partnership.

“This collaboration is a continuation of our history as engineering partner and manufacturer for Tickford performance cars, as well as our long-standing commitment to Supercars, the pinnacle of Australian motor racing.”

Tickford Racing CEO and Team Principal Tim Edwards welcomed DBA as the team’s newest addition, which has been a staunch supporter of motorsport through the majority of its 40-plus year history.

“We are delighted to welcome DBA into the Tickford family,” Edwards said. “Like us, DBA is a leader in their industry with decades of hard work behind the scenes, their desire to remain on the cutting edge is no different from our own as a race team and is why they have a number of awards and accomplishments to their credit.

“In a year that many of us are looking to embrace Australia, it’s exciting to join forces with a pure Australian brand that has gained worldwide recognition, and we’re looking forward to achieving success together in 2021.”

Along with support of the race team, Tickford and DBA are also exploring opportunities to include DBA brake pads and rotors in future Tickford vehicle enhancement packages, which would see DBA braking power applied to a number of Tickford-enhanced Ford Mustangs and Rangers.

“A great part of this partnership is the opportunity to build on our historic engineering and manufacturing relationship and work towards putting DBA products into the road cars we work on,” Edwards added. “DBA offers a variety of premium braking products that are in line with the premium quality vehicle enhancements we provide, so we see a lot of potential here for the future.”
