Hesai Lidar Unveiled in Luxury Vehicle at IAA Munich

MUNICH — Hesai Technology (Nasdaq: HSAI), a global leader in automotive lidar, announced its European market debut yesterday at IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich.

Hesai’s AT128 lidar will be a key component of the Human Horizon‘s HiPhi Z’s advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The luxury electric vehicle is now available for sale in Germany and Norway.

The HiPhi Z merges cutting-edge technology with luxury, featuring a multi-sensor ADAS system with the Hesai AT128 at its core. The lidar seamlessly integrates with the car’s roof design, providing both a futuristic appearance and high-resolution 3D perception capability.

AT128’s long-distance perception enables rapid reactions for the ADAS system, enhancing the vehicle’s ability to identify risks and make safe decisions in complex road conditions. It boasts a ranging capability of 200 meters (@10% reflectivity) and an overall resolution of 1200 x 128. With a point rate of over 1.53 million per second, it conducts ultra-high precision scanning of the environment, forming consistent and unstitched point clouds that offer real-time 3D visibility.

Hesai’s AT128 has secured commitments for several million units from 11 leading automotive OEMs. Commencing mass production and delivery in 2022, it has been integrated into various car models, with monthly deliveries exceeding 10,000 units. By Q2 2023,

Hesai has achieved a total delivery of more than 190,000 units since inception, including ADAS and autonomous mobility lidar products, setting a record in the global automotive lidar market.

David Li, Co-Founder and CEO of Hesai Technology, expressed excitement about entering Europe’s passenger car market with the AT128 as a core ADAS lidar sensor. Mark Stanton, CTO of HiPhi, emphasized the lidar’s indispensable role in enhancing safety features in ADAS, applauding Hesai’s reliability, performance, and mass production capabilities.

Hesai, with offices in Stuttgart, Germany, and Palo Alto, Calif., is actively expanding its global presence and mass-production capabilities. Their lidar systems meet the highest European standards for reliability and offer industry-leading performance, prioritizing safety in ADAS functionalities.

Aside from the HiPhi Z, Hesai’s AT128 is featured in the Lotus Eletre, available in nine European countries, including the U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. This electric hyper SUV combines Lotus’s 75 years of racing heritage and engineering expertise into a luxury lifestyle vehicle.

Hesai is making a significant impact at the IAA Mobility 2023 conference by showcasing its cutting-edge lidar solutions through the HiPhi Z intelligent vehicle.

Committed to road safety and saving lives, Hesai aims to demonstrate the maturity of its technologies and promote advancements in the automotive industry, working towards making this technology accessible in every passenger car.
