Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2024 GLE 450e Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) vehicles due to a software error in the electronic stability program (ESP). This error may cause the force required to stop the vehicle to increase, potentially requiring a longer stopping distance.
Affected Vehicles:
- 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE 450e Plug-in Hybrid
- Production Dates: January 6, 2023 – October 27, 2023
- Approximately 2,770 vehicles affected
Safety Risk:
The increased braking force required to stop the vehicle may result in extended stopping distances, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy:
MBUSA will update the ESP control unit software free of charge at authorized dealerships. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by January 30, 2024.

- November 24, 2023: MBUSA determines a potential safety risk and initiates a recall.
- December 8, 2023: MBUSA notifies dealers of the recall.
- January 30, 2024: MBUSA notifies owners of the recall.
