Galfer Adds Solar to Barcelona Plant

BARCELONA — Industrias Galfer has taken a significant step towards sustainability by successfully completing the installation of a solar panel system at its Barcelona plant. This initiative strengthens Galfer’s commitment to the environment and its role as a leader in adopting sustainable practices in the industry.

With more than 70 years of producing high-quality braking components, Industrias Galfer is committed to reducing its carbon footprint. It has installed a total of 667 solar panels on a surface area of 2,000 square meters, on top of its facilities.

The arrangement of the panels has been strategically designed to meet the energy needs of Industrias Galfer’s plant, which houses more than 50 industrial machines and offices. It is estimated that this solar panel installation will cover approximately 28% to 32% of the factory’s energy demand, marking a significant milestone in promoting sustainability in the industrial sector.

“We are proud to have successfully achieved this solar energy project at Industrias Galfer,” says Gerard Ciurans, Project Manager for Process Engineering. “Our investment in renewable energy reflects our commitment to driving the industry towards more sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.”

Industrias Galfer continues to work towards promoting sustainability and environmental protection in its operations. In addition to the installation of solar panels, the company has introduced new packaging made from sustainable materials, such as kraft cardboard with cellulose acetate windows, since last year. With these actions, the company reaffirms its commitment to promoting the transition to a low-carbon economy and reducing plastic materials.
