Brembo, a global leader in braking systems, has begun construction of its first production facility in Thailand, marking a significant expansion of its industrial footprint. With an investment of around 40 million euros, this move is set to bolster Brembo’s position as a Solution Provider and capitalize on growth opportunities within Southeast Asia.

Situated in Rayong province, a notable motorcycle industry hub near Bangkok, the new site will focus on producing braking systems primarily for motorcycles, catering to European and American manufacturers initially. This strategic location not only places Brembo at the heart of the region’s two-wheeler production but also anticipates the employment of approximately 150 individuals once fully operational.

Daniele Schillaci, CEO of Brembo, emphasized the importance of this development, stating, “The opening of the new production site in Thailand is a crucial step in our global expansion strategy. We strengthen our position in the key two-wheeler segment and consolidate Brembo’s role as a Solution Provider for our customers operating in the country. With this investment, we lay the groundwork for further developments of our business in the ASEAN region.”

The groundbreaking ceremony, which took place on February 16, signaled the start of construction, with expectations for the site to be operational by the first quarter of 2025. The facility will span approximately 17,000 square meters, with potential for future expansions up to 95,000 square meters.

This initiative is part of Brembo’s ongoing investment in the motorcycle market, further enhanced by the recent acquisitions of SBS Friction in Denmark and J.Juan in Spain. These acquisitions have significantly enriched Brembo’s offerings in the two-wheeler sector, which now represents about 13% of the company’s overall revenues.

Brembo SpA stands at the forefront of designing and producing high-performance braking systems and components. Since its inception in 1961, the company has been committed to innovation, supporting OEMs and the aftermarket, and has been a dominant force in motorsports, securing over 600 titles. Brembo continues to drive forward with its vision of “Turning Energy into Inspiration,” aiming to shape the future of mobility with advanced, digital, and sustainable solutions. Operating in 15 countries with over 15,000 employees, Brembo reported a turnover of €3,629 million in 2022, underscoring its role as a trusted solution provider across the globe.
