Delphi Technologies has once again positioned itself at the forefront of the automotive aftermarket with the introduction of first-to-market electric vehicle (EV) braking components. This development is particularly timely, as recent figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders (SMMT) indicate a 10.6% increase in battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales year-to-date, underscoring a growing market demand.

Key Highlights:

  • Delphi leads with new EV brake parts: Launching essential braking components for popular models like Tesla’s Model 3 and Volkswagen’s ID series.
  • Market demand surges: SMMT data shows a significant uptick in BEV sales, highlighting the importance of Delphi’s latest offerings.
  • Innovation meets quality: Delphi’s continued commitment to providing premium, first-to-market parts supports workshops in expanding their service offerings and increasing customer satisfaction.

Carl Lester, Global Product Line Manager at Delphi, emphasizes the unique aspect of EV brakes, noting, “EVs rely much less on self-cleaning hydraulic brakes with regenerative braking doing much of the work. The reduced usage of hydraulic brakes means rust and contaminants accumulate quickly, affecting the brake disc’s surface, pad mounting, and caliper components.” This insight underscores the critical need for specialized maintenance for EVs, a gap that Delphi’s new products aim to fill.

Among the newly released components are rear brake pads for Tesla’s Model 3 (Delphi reference number LP5034EV) and brake shoes for Volkswagen’s ID series (Delphi reference number LS2197), showcasing Delphi’s ability to cater to the latest vehicle models. This move not only places Delphi ahead in the EV aftermarket space but also provides workshops with the tools needed to capture repair business for newer vehicle models, enhancing their profitability and customer loyalty.

Delphi’s announcement also highlights other significant additions to their product line, including front brake pads for Mercedes-Benz and rear brake pads for Honda’s Jazz, further solidifying their position as a leader in the aftermarket parts industry.

By continually expanding its range with high-quality, innovative products, Delphi supports automotive workshops in meeting the evolving needs of its customers, reinforcing the importance of advanced maintenance solutions in the rapidly growing EV market.
