GRAPEVINE, Texas — HDAW’23 was the biggest one yet and was full of surprises – one of the most notable being newcomer OPC Parts, LLC. Founded by brake-industry-veteran Don Orrell, co-owner and CEO, OPC Parts made a big impression with show attendees.
“Our booth was packed for the entire show, and often people had to wait or come back later to be able to learn more. The response was overwhelming,” Orrell said.
OPC Parts’s TorqStop™ brand encompasses a wide range of light, medium and heavy-duty brake components, tailored specifically for the aftermarket. Its product portfolio is divided into two main product segments; air brake and hydraulic brakes.
The air brake program includes all-makes coverage for air disc brakes including pads, rotors, calipers and chambers, plus traditional S-cam brake shoes and chambers.
The hydraulic program covers all main brake system components for class 1-7 hydraulically braked vehicles, including brake pads and shoes, rotors and drums, calipers, and a wide range of hydraulic components such as master cylinders, wheel cylinders, brakes hoses and more. Coverage is extensive, encompassing everything from an F150 to a Navistar 4300, including hard-to-get last-mile-delivery applications.
One of the key differentiators that TorqStop offers is that all components are 100 percent new and core-free.
“Cores are a four-letter word,” Orrell joked. “Yet many suppliers who sell new parts like ADB calipers still charge for a core. I don’t.”
He added that not charging for a core provides improved cash flow for his distribution partners, plus provides an opportunity for them to capitalize on any cores they receive back. Another differentiator is that OPC is an actual manufacturer, not a buy-sell merchandiser.
Orrell explained, “OPC’s ownership group includes global manufacturing companies with extensive capabilities. When you buy from OPC, you’re buying parts we make or closely source – you’re not dealing with a middleman. This enables us to provide competitive pricing plus be open to private label opportunities.”
Orrell’s mantra to is to maximize value for his customers.
“Saying you maximize value sounds good, but what does that mean? For me, it means getting more that what you pay for. On a scale of 1 to 10, our quality is nine but our prices are five. That delta is your added value. You paid for a 5, but I’m providing you with a 9.
“I’m all about building long-term relationships, not maximizing short-term profits. I’m in it for the long run. And let’s not forget customer service, integrity and transparency. Without these, we’re just another supplier.”
