Women in Management a Key to SEINSA’s Progress

Madrid — The Spanish Group SEINSA Corporation, a leading company in the manufacture of brake, transmission, steering and suspension system products, has launched an equality plan to avoid wage gaps and promote access to management positions for women.

This initiative was born in the participation and monitoring forums that have been implemented within the company to achieve a fluid, empathic and transversal communication and design among all the workers the group’s strategy.

The company has generated a continuous growth of employment, going from 100 workers in 2010 between its four plants, to 300 workers in 2021 and with an average age of 40 years, which defines SEINSA as a young company.

In recent years, 60 new fixed contracts have also been made.  Its current remuneration is 20 percent above the chemistry agreement and 57 percent of its staff are women.

In addition, in the last five years, of the 15 early retirements granted, 12 have been for women and eight internal promotions have been held, of which six have been for them.

“Success is achieved thanks to the balance and integration of women in the business network, letting female talent escape would have a huge impact onthe results of SEINSA, “said  Mikel Azcárate, director of the Strategic Development and New Business area of SEINSA Corporation. “Thanks to the forums, an equality plan has been achieved that seeks to protect, motivateand empowerwomen. Benefits have also been achieved such as remuneration above the agreement of  20 percent  and a pension plan for all  workers.”

Faced with a situation of global economic crisis,  the fall in business opportunities is stuck,  as has  happened  in SEINSA Corporation. Unblocking the situation depends for the most part on theskillsof  creativity  and  entrepreneurship  put at the service of employment and here women  play a fundamental role:

“The company is making two very important strategic decisions and led by women,” said Azcárate. “They have been part of the negotiations with a Chinese client and have managed to unfreeze theparty.”

The Navarrese Group is in the process of expansion and is making progress in different  agreements that may be historic within the automotive parts replacement sector.  

As Azcárate stated, “these would not have been possible without the adaptability, continuous innovation and courage of our female leaders.”

Consolidation of the area of people development

These initiatives are intended to consolidate the area of people development, a business management model that SEINSA Corporation has been applying in the four companies of the group for 50 years. 

SEINSA is working on the training of leaders for the revitalization of integral and sustained innovation that will also include the promotion of the management of competencies for the activation of creative talent and the deployment of high-performance teams for the innovation of the processes of the organization.

People-based European model

SEINSA Corporation has an expansion plan to grow by 40 percent during the next three years, multiplying its annual sales volume, which reached €30 million a year ago, despite and against the forecasts of the automotive sector in general. 98 percent of the navarrese company’s sales correspond to exports to 85 brands from 85 countries.

The company has established itself as a pioneer in Spain in the development of the European model of business excellence and makes available to the entire automotive sector, and other sectors that make up the Spanish business fabric, its anti-crisis management methodology.

In 2002, it won the EFQM European award for quality management and in 2005 it opened a factory in Chennai (India), which has allowed it to enter other markets, mainly in the U.S.
