Toyota Australia Recalls Small Number of Kluger Model for Potential Braking Issue

Toyota Australia has initiated a safety recall on 21 Kluger vehicles produced during October 2017

This recall is due to a condition affecting the vacuum pump that is used to supply vacuum to the vehicle’s brake booster. There is a possibility that a component in the vacuum pump assembly may have been manufactured incorrectly.

This condition could lead to illumination of warning lights, an audible alert and result in a sudden loss of braking assist. Loss of braking assist while driving could increase the risk of a crash.

Toyota Australia will shortly contact all affected vehicle owners advising them details of this recall campaign.

It is anticipated that replacement part availability will commence during second quarter of 2018. Once replacement parts are available Toyota Australia will again contact all affected vehicle owners so they can make an appointment at their preferred Toyota dealer.

There have been no incidents or injuries reported in Australia as a result of this condition.
