Subaru is working on cruise control systems that can recognize traffic lights and bring cars to a safe stop.

The brand’s EyeSight safety suite, which includes active cruise control, already represents one of the most comprehensive driver safety packages available on regular vehicles. Going beyond the use of radar sensors in front of modern vehicles, Subaru uses a color camera to detect brake lights, offering customers a smooth stop-and-go active cruise control function which is particularly welcome in heavy traffic.
