September vehicle sales numbers are in, with three major headlines:
- Vehicle sales are way down from September 2017. One main reason is that last year’s numbers were artificially high due to Hurricane Harvey, which forced many buyers to purchase new vehicles.
- The industry’s long slide away from passenger cars and towards trucks and SUVs accelerated. This benefitted brands like Jeep and Ram.
- Tesla wrapped up a strong quarter, delivering 83,500 vehicles.
The following table shows sales by brand in September and August 2018, year to date totals, and total vehicles sales by brand in 2017.
