PLYMOUTH, Mich. — Link Engineering Company, a global leader in customized testing solutions, announced its intent to acquire Quay Brake Testing (QBT), based in the U.K., an independent testing company specializing in ECE R90 approvals for aftermarket brake components for passenger cars, commercial vehicles and motorcycles.
The ECE R90 regulation stipulates that all brake pads and rotors manufactured for the aftermarket and sold within the E.U. (and certain other countries) must comply with R90 standards and hold type approval.
Once certified, these products can be confidently and legitimately sold in the marketplace by the manufacturer, knowing they perform comparably to the original equipment.
The QBT team is dedicated to working with its customers in gaining ECE R90 approvals for friction and rotor products, in ways that meet customer needs whilst conforming to the relevant regulations. The unique format of QBT services enables QBT to be a “one-stop shop” for getting products approved quickly and cost-effectively.
“This acquisition brings together decades of experience of both companies and provides QBT access to LINK’s global testing laboratory locations, thus allowing faster turnaround times and greatly improved capacity for ECE R90 approvals,” stated Matthew Link, President of Link Engineering Company.
