VICTORIA, Australia — Daimler Truck and Bus Australia Pacific Pty Ltd. is recalling certain Fuso LDT Canter trucks because a lack of grease for the front brakes might eventually lead to the loss of a brake pad.

The recall affects 3,595 2017-2020 model year Fuso Canter LDT Canter FEA21 and FEB21 vehicles.

According to the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communication post, “On some vehicles, it has been identified grease was not applied to the slide pins of the front wheel brake calipers. If the outer Brembo brake pad is continually used under the defect conditions, it cannot be fully returned after the brake operation and wear is accelerated. In worst case, the outer pad may detach from the vehicle.”

2. Detachment of the outer brake pad could result in reduced brake efficiency which in turn will increase the risk of an accident and/or injury or death of vehicle occupants and other road users

Owners are urged by the agency to contact an authorized Daimler commercial-vehicle dealership.
