Forgeline Debuts New Wheels at PRI Show

DAYTON, Ohio – Forgeline will debut a variety of wheels at the upcoming 2019 Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show in Indianapolis.

GS16 “Skinny” debuts for drag-racing market

As part of a full-scale embrace of the motorsport drag racing market, Forgeline will show its 18×5.0-inch one-piece forged monoblock GS1R “Skinnies.”

Like the original road racing version of the GS1R, the new is precision-machined from a single forging of proprietary 6061-T6 aluminum alloy. But unlike the original road racing version, the “Skinny” has been re-engineered to be optimized for drag-racing applications. This includes not only the narrower width (which necessitates a unique narrow forging), but a full set of revised performance metrics to make the “Skinny” as lightweight as possible.

In addition to the 18×5.0 inch “Skinny” GS1R’s size and weight advantages, it also retains the exceptional brake clearance of the original GS1R. This means recreational straight-line racers can maintain the giant front brake kits that came with their sports cars, which allows unprecedented flexibility for a wide range of motorsport endeavors.

“We decided to make a lightweight 18×5-inch Skinny version of our GS1R as complimentary product to our new One Piece Forged Monoblock Single Beadlock wheels,” explained Forgeline President Dave Schardt. “Many of the serious enthusiasts who are willing to invest in a beadlock for the rear are also looking for a skinny for the front. But understandably, they want the convenience and flexibility of a bolt-on/bolt-off solution. So, they need that big brake clearance in the front to make it viable.”

New modular AL307 and CF207 wheels to be unveiled

Also debuting in Indy are Forgeline’s two new modular models that share a common center design, the AL Series AL307 and the Carbon+Forged Series CF207.

These models share the revolutionary new “0307” cutting-edge center design consisting of five split V-spokes that span integrated lug holes with intricate multi-dimensional edges, each featuring a distinctive cutout along the spoke’s inner edge. These concave spokes are tapered and extend beyond the rim register to reach out over the step of the wheel’s outer rim.

With the three-piece AL Series AL307, this center is combined with two modular 6061-T6 aluminum rim halves, offering virtually unlimited options for width, offset, and fitment.

The hybrid Carbon+Forged CF20 combines this center with Forgeline’s exclusive carbon fiber barrel to deliver a technically advanced lightweight wheel with real-world advantages to performance and drivability.

The AL Series AL307 is available immediately in stepped-lip 19, 20, and 21-inch diameters in virtually any width, backspace, or offset. And a slightly modified version is available in 18-inch diameters, when combined with a reverse flat-lip outer rim.

The Carbon+Forged CF207 is available immediately in 20- and 21-inch diameters and widths ranging from 9.0 to 12.5 inches. Further information can be found at https://forgeline.com/latest-news/forgeline-debuts-new-18×5-inch-gs1r-drag-racing-skinnies-at-the-2019-pri-show.html
